Injured Clark expected to return around All-Star break

The Memphis Grizzlies are slowly waiting for their power to return.

According to local sources, Memphis' Brandon Clark (forward, 203 cm, 98 kg) is awaiting his return.

Clark is expected to return around the All-Star Game. This is because he suffered a serious injury, rupturing his Achilles tendon in the mid to late last season. Considering it will take him about a year or more to return, he is expected to hit the court around the end of February.

If Clark returns, Memphis will finally be able to get back on track. In fact, Memphis suffered a major loss in power as starting center Steven Adams virtually ended the season in the middle of last season, and Clark was injured in the second half of the season. In other words, they had to go into the playoffs without losing their starting big man and most reliable sixth man. Although they did well in the remaining regular season, it was not easy to survive in the playoffs.

Although Adams fell out of the race this time during preparation for the season, Clark may return. Jaron Jackson Jr., the core of the inside force, is still alive and well, so if Clark comes in, the burden on existing players will be reduced and there will be more power available on the inside. With Jackson and Clark, they can't fall behind other powerhouses even in big games.

He appeared in 56 games last season before being injured. He played 19.5 minutes per game, averaging 10 points (.656 .167 .723), 5.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. He has a weak outside shooting, with a 3-point success rate of less than 20%, but he is good enough to be entrusted with around 17 minutes of playing time as a backup power forward. Although there are limitations, the news of his return preparations is definitely positive for Memphis as the depth of the player base can be added.

Memphis is already suffering from injuries this season, just like last season. As for Clark, his return was likely until after the middle of the season. However, before the season started, Adams ended the season. Not only did Ja Morant cause a stir in the offseason, but people who were supposed to help, including Marcus Smart, Luke Kennard, and Derrick Rose, got injured and were unable to utilize their power properly.

Fortunately, Bismack Biyombo was brought in early in the season to fill Adams' void. Morant recently returned from disciplinary action, and Smart is also expected to return. Kennard is also expected to recover by the end of the year. If they join sequentially, Memphis can be mentioned as a strong ambush in the middle of the season.
